It took me the whole length of Pirates of the Caribbean - it's not perfect, but it does the job well, and it's sooo funky I promise you it looks a lot better than the Gucci iPod case ;)

...and I'll be sell them for... half the Gucci price. Deal? :p

It didn't take you very long, just about 2 hours? Looks nice though.

Wow I hadn't even heard of that Gucci case...it looks hideous. It totally defeats the purpose of the iPod, STYLE.

Having said that nice crochet job, I like the white look

The Gucci case is really hideous. It looks like one of those Louis Vuitton fakes they used to sell in the street in the eighties :p

Oh, well.... More proof that money can't buy you taste.

Thanks to everyone who commented that they like the crocheted iPod

It started out just for fun, and because I didn't want to spend money on a case, besides I still haven't found one I really like.

I like the iPod as it is, I really don't like the cases that cover it up too much, but I also needed something to carry it around... I feared the crochet idea would come out looking terrible but it actually works ok. Just a bit too flower-child, maybe ;) but it's sort of cute.

I guess I could insert a clip on the back but I still have to study that. Right now I use it with that ribbon as a lanyard, and hang it on my neck. It's actually rather comfortable. I have improve the whole design though, when I have more time. I knitted it around the iPod bit by bit, just made it all up as I went along by trial and error, so the proportions should be adjusted a bit better.

After I've perfected it, I'll open for business! ;) Gucci, be very afraid...

    - There's a Dior iPod case too - 350 euros

I agree the case is made of holey threads, but where does Batman come into it?

Nice. Looks sweet. Makes me want to take up crocheting. But I think it would take me all of the Star Wars Sexology[?] to finish one.

Heh what a resurrection indeed! I'd already forgot about this! not that I'm complaining, always nice to get compliments :)

By the way, I made a few more tests and perfected my crochet-fu, came up with a bit better versions of that iPod jacket - without the ribbon, I did the lanyard in crochet too.

To answer jamesW135: no, of course it doesn't really protect the iPod (except maybe it does slightly protect the back from scratches). I just wanted something with a lanyard because I found keeping the iPod in a pocket a bit uncomfortable. And it was fun doing it.

And virus1: it really isn't a lot of work, except the first time I made it, cos you have to make your own pattern rather that follow a readymade one (like this hat, I just made that last week). I'm a bit faster now anyway. And I do it while watching tv or DVD's.

Tell you what, if anyone wants a crocheted iPod jacket similar to the one in the pictures, but in the improved less sloppy version, just drop me a message and I could make one for you and send it free, so you can try it out and tell me how it works for you - offer open to first five only, for now. And you'll have to be patient. :)

(Only problem is, I now no longer have that iPod, only a shuffle. But I can borrow one or use a card model with the same dimensions, I guess!)

I guess Lacero meant it as, you know, like a trilogy except it's six episodes so it's a sexology :D
