I just bought an ipod/PB, and i've been charging this ipod for quite awhile now...8ish hours? and although I see that the battery if full or seems to be...the animated battery thing keeps going... I've tried resetting and that doesn't help...

How long does it usually take to charge a battery?

Sometimes the meter doesn't read properly for a couple minutes after you unplug it from the charger. I would assume that it's charged after 8 hours, but when in doubt RTFM.

the problem is that it doesn't seem to read properly with the charger in... (constantly with the animated charging motion...which the manual says comes up when its charging.

it should take four hours to charge an iPod battery to full, at which time the battery bars should stop moving on the screen. however if you take it of the dock/cable, and then reconnect it, the battery bars will start again, but it is only trickle feeding at this point, because the battery is full.

also if you're charging from your pBook, make sure that your pBook is not set to sleep in the energy saver settings, cos' when it does sleep it will drain the iPod battery.

here are two excellent threads about all things battery for the iPod...
