Interesting but obvious concept. There has to be a reason as to why Apple did not consider this originally when the first generation iPods were released. If cell phones are able to have removeable batteries allowing for swapping out of a dead one for a fresh one, I'm sure it can be done with the iPod. Albeit I imagine the extra batteries will be on the pricey side, but then again, if you're able to plunk down $300+ for an mp3 player, then maybe an additional $50+ wouldn't be so bad an investment in the long run.

You can change the the old iPod battery in like 5 mins with DIY kit.

It takes around 10 mins with the new 3rd gens.

I'm not worried because I still have another yr and 8 months on my AppleCare.

I rather have a slim design then some stupid looking opening battery door on the back side or have it any bigger.

    That design is FUGLY...

    Ech horrible.

I mean I would like a battery you could remove as long as it doesn't kill style or slimness.

    :p

i don't own an ipod, but as an admirer, i would think that having a user-replaceable battery (and the consequencial aesthetics) is a very non-apple thing to do. they like to make us deal with what they give us. but as stated, the battery can be replaced, so if you're really into it, you can do it no problem.

    i vote no.

    just my opinion :D
