Today I picked up a new iPod Video 30GB from Target (they are having a deal where if you buy one you get a 30 dollar target gift card for anyone interrested.) and I downloaded a few episodes of The Office to watch on my train ride home. I was on the train watching the episode where Michael buys a blow-up doll to protest the sexual harrassment workshops going on and I thought to myself - "I wonder what the guy next to me thinks I am watching if he sees this blow-up doll on screen!"

I thought I would pose this question to the rest you. If you recall there have been several lawsuits from drivers of other cars who saw video being played on a screen in another car they considered inappropriate. Do you think that the iPod video will spark the same type of lawsuits?

For the record I do not agree with those lawsuits and I hope it doesn't come to pass.

Realistically, you have no expectation of privacy when watching a portable video device in a public place. So I would probably refrain from watching any pornos on your iPod when you're out and about, lest someone complain to a police officer than you're showing lewd/offensive material.

On the other hand, what you were watching is a TV show that's rated (I think) TV-14, so he really would have no grounds to complain.

I think my point is you really can never be sure of what is offensive to someone

Well, unless you ARE watching a porno or a snuff film on your iPod, I think you can safely tell anyone who complains about what you're watching to take a long walk off a short pier and to mind their own damn business.
