Was just flicking around Channels and they now sell the Video iPod and iPod Nano on Shop @ Home TV. With a slew of accessories. I wonder if we'll ever see macs being sold over the air? Could this be the first step?

Television would be a good place to show off the advantages of the Mac. Features like expose, dashboard, iLife applications, etc. could easily be shown off.

However, Steve is probably a little leery of this channel.

Because every other computer ever sold on TV has been crap. Well, at least from my expierence.

Probably because they're known to sell junky stuff and make it look good. At least that's what I think of when I think of those crappy PCs being sold that they make look like they're the best thing ever.

ShopAtHome is the only network I would trust. They carry all the well known names, Like Canon, Kodak, Samsung and now Apple. All the other networks sell there own branded stuff.

In a false sense of reality...My Mind!
During one of my sleepless nights I saw this and wasn't sure what to think  However I have bought a few things from Shop@home before and I've been pleased with the service and product. I guess for what you get with the bundle pack for the iPod it's not a bad deal, really, it's most things needed/wanted when we get them anyway. The only thing that really would have been great is giving an iTunes card and not the other one for the music if I understood the promo correct (remember lack of sleep ;) ).
As much as some will roll their eyes at this it's really good since it hits a large viewing audience at different times better than in some GQ or whatever magazine we see the adds in.

    Um, no.

Way before Steve came back, they did infomercials. I remember them well...

It began with a family that needed a computer. At the store, they are shown Windows and Mac. The sales guy shows about twenty manuals for the PC, then Mac, etc.

So the story continues and you learn a lot of useless personal crap about the family. The grandpa meets the love of his life online, introduces her to family, kids learn with the recently coined "multimedia" features, all thanks to Apple, etc.

It was horrible. That is why we have Apple retail.

And ya can't beat not paying for the whole thing at once! This is why I think Macs would sell big.

    You are exactly right.
Shop@Home is a perfect place for a Mac to be sold.
Here is what I learned a while back. OVC is actually not all that bad in the gem/jewlery department. Their diamonds aren't top knotch, but they aren't half bad. THey are about what you would expect to find at say Macy's or Kay Jewlers. Home Shopping Channel is pure crap and not worth the time. OVC is great for products like Suze Orman's financial books, Jonathan Products (upscale hair products) stuff like that.

I learned this not too long ago when I was researching shop @ home TV channels for a marketing class.

I don't know about any of that myself, but I do know that QVC sells Bare Escentuals' make up and I love that brand. :p
