Article says: people are carrying more electronics now, so more electronics are being stolen. Well, of course! Multiple examples given: "iPods, MP3 players and the new generation of internet-connected mobile phones."

Headline says: "Street robbery soars as iPod users targeted." Hmmm...

I'm included in those statistics. The thief got my phone and an iPod but I'd had neither out on the street and it was purely opportunistic to see what I had in my handbag...so I hardly think it drove the theft

    My condolences!

But having an iPod and a phone did drive the theft: they couldn't have been stolen if they didn't exist. By which I mean that the police shouldn't be surprised at more iPods being stolen if more iPods exist.

I hear that after guns were invented, more people got shot.
