Is it just me, or are the forums speed slowing down?

lol... ever since Tigers announcement, I have watched the "Who's Online" at the bottom, slowly crawl from 300 or so people online... to over 1100! I feel like its really taking a strain on the server, because its taking nearly forever to load a forum and whatnot. I know my internet is working because I have a couple other websites open. Normally MacRumors is very speedy for me.

anyone else experiencing this slowdown... aka "The Tiger Effect" :p

Yep... it's understandable. The server can only handle so many people at once. All those DB accesses and scripts executing.

Hopefully it won't take the server down :)

Not gay in the homosexual sense but definitely in the happy sense.

I haven't really experienced any real slow down today. Nothing like the experience during MacWorld SF, when I got numerous server busy messages. It would seem that the server upgrade is making a difference, thank you arn. Although the real test will be during the WWDC.

I haven't had a busy server message in quite a while. Let's see how MR holds up at WWDC.

I find that when there are big announcements and a fast-growing news thread here, the other threads here that occupy our idle hours are abandoned, at least temporarily. After all, who wants to talk about sports and cars and TV shows when there is Mac news to look at from all angles?

Funny thing, this was the fastest loading forum on here all night. It seems like the internet in general is very slow in my area tonight. Not just at my apartment, several friends have been complaining. Wonder if Comcast is having more problems again.

Yes, Comcast must be having problems... big problems obviously if the symptoms are showing up from Florida to Michigan. Seems better in the past 10-15 minutes though. Hopefully it lasts.
