Is it me or is it unexpectedly quiet around here?

We're on top of a MacWorld event, and it's actually very quiet, not much thread activity, and I haven't had any server busy msgs...it's just not right.

I think it's because we're trying to get some work done so we can all slack off tomorrow afternoon.

Luckily, I had a browser window at the back of a stack of work ready to be refreshed with new posts, I like to see what's popping up.

    :)

it's going to be even worse as there's no stream, and live updates are looking like they're going to be a little thin on the ground. :(

the worse part is afterwards though, when all the winjers emerge complaining about whatever has been released, without fail and regardless of whether they're in the market for a new Apple product or not... everything's too expensive, not fast enough... blah blah blah, gets right on ones tits.

    woo

four different Brits in a row.

connect four it ain't but I'm sure I've just shown the first symptom of my new obsession.

yesh, you're right it is quiet, a little too quiet.

In a paranoid sense it makes me want to go and check for threads where there are a sneeky gang of Americans laughing at this Brit only (so far) thread.

At first I thought you were complaining about not being stalked! :p Then I read the rest. I agree, it's the calm before the storm (pardon the cliché). Wait until more leaks come about later on today.

Is there going to be anyone at the event with a laptop and irc?

I like that sort of coverage. I also hate the bit when the B'stards come out and take the shine off the new toys.

I like new toys, it's like that seasonal cycle effect, I even like being the one who opens a new Jar of coffee. I just like the old being refreshed with new, a little bit here and there a few items at a time. :)

There's not a lot of interesting, rumour related, excitement building threads.
Perhaps we're all afraid of being sued just in case we're right in our speculation...

On the other hand, there are lots of 'will they update x product since I want to buy one' threads... yawn!

Agreed on the 'just want to know what's new asap' point - I'm unlikely to buy anything that's announced but I'm looking forward to finding out what I can't have!

I do think it's a pity that there's no satellite feed to the Apple Store. It would have been fun to have a small Macrumors gathering at the back of the theatre followed by an inevitable whinge in a local pub!

You know what. I don't even know if it's worth it. Some seem to like 'em and find them funny, others I can see have a hissy fit...oh well, we'll see.

Personally I'm not expecting as much as I have previous years, so hopefully I won't be woefully underwhelmed like I have been in the past

Yeah, that means one of two things:

    a) It's gonna be so great that they don't want to overload all the Apple geeks around the world.
    b) It's gonna be a complete let down and they don't want their staff in store to take the brunt of the disappointment.

    Place your bets!

argh i have work to do for university today and tomorrow
i will be sitting in the lecture hall being too excited to listen carefully because i know when i come home i will get to read all those nice things ;)

Oddly, I'm less excited about this one than others in the past - maybe because I felt let down last year. I also noticed the surprising lack of activity. However, I'm willing to bet that tomorrow - tomorrow during and after the keynote especially - that the "server down" screens will make many appearances. I think I'll just lay low and browse Apple's site.

I'm still pissed that they aren't doing the feeds at the local Stores. Maybe you're right - don't want employees to bear the brunt of a bad keynote. Who knows? But it's sort of turned me off a bit (I'm sure I'll get over it ;)).

You're in withdrawal from your recent stalker episode, it's not really quiet, I've simply activated a n00b filter...

You can still post, but if your post is crap, MR automatically nukes your computer :D :D

Should keep the rabble down to a tolerable roar.

Back at work too. Just delivered 1st lecture, I can hardly speak.....

    only 2 more to do.
