Is it possible to put forum sections on ignore?

Is it possible to put whole sub forums on ignore or effectively turn them off for my account?

I.e. Getting rid of say the marketplace on my account?

Can you clarify what you mean?
Do you want to just ignore the marketplace? How is that different from just choosing not to browse there?
Or, post on the marketplace, but no one else can know that you post there?
Not quite the same as ignoring individual threads, or posters.

I don't have any "watched forums", as I simply monitor new posts - doesn't matter to me what forum is used.

And, what about the times when a poster decides to start a thread in your ignored forum, but it was posted in the wrong forum - and, is delightfully interesting to you....(might happen!)
How would you ever know?

I mean so when I look at my forum list the marketplace just doesn't appear there. Basically so I can just condense my forum list.

Last week Arn said this was coming to a forum near you. No timeframe.

EDIT: exact words were "other things on the short list are excluding forums from new posts, improved spy functionality". So not *definitely* coming to a forum near you.

EDIT EDIT: so, actually, excluding specified forums from new posts, rather than removing them from the list of forums. Sorry!

I never actually use the new post feature so not quite what I wanted to do. I know there's a way of doing it as its available on another phpbb forum I use. Fingers crossed it appears in the future.

It's not condensed, but does the improved quick navigation menu reduce the wish to ignore some areas?
