iOS Is it safe to get a freelancer?

Hi,

I believe that I have a good idea for an iPhone application but at the same time I have 0 programming skills.

I' m planning to outsource the idea to someone who can write the code for me. I have some doubts though? What will stop a person stealing the idea and commercialize it for himself?

How can I protect myself against these kind of practice? I think patents would not work in this case or would they?
