Hey folks. Am thinking about getting an Apple TV, but am a little unhappy about the lack of an on/off switch. I won't be using this every day, let alone every hour, and I'd rather not have it running 24/7. Is it possible to only plug it in right before use, or will that start a lengthy setup process every time I start it up?

Keeping it off...

It's fine to unplug it when it's not in use! In fact, I have mine on a switched surge protector which also powers a small fan that blows over the AppleTV to keep it extra-cool in my home entertainment unit. ;)

It only takes about 80 seconds or so for the unit to boot, and it doesn't "lose" any settings between uses.

It's probably not necessary, but I always put my AppleTV in "Standby" mode just before I remove the power.
