I notice that the lower screen on my new ds is a darker than my upper screen. Like when i fire it up, and you get the warning (thanks Nintendo...) the top is nice bright white while the bottom screen is a bit darker, alomst like a brightness level lower. Should I take it back? It has a few dead pixels and/or dust stuck in the top screen (nothing too bad though) so it wouldn't break my heart.

I'd take it back for the dead pixels alone! I hate when that happens....I know its a problem with all LCD screen, but god it pisses me off!

Nintendo will replace the system for a single dead pixel. Do it. I did.

Replace it without any doubt. There's no reason to live with dead pixels.

ps. It's not "thanks Nintendo..." it's "thanks retards who do stupid things that force Nintendo to stick in health n safety signs for fear of being sued by our sue-happy culture". :(

Ya...I really hate those people who sue over anything(Tiger direct when Apple released 10.4, Sony and Lik-Sang , Person who spilt coffee on themselves and sued McDonalds)

if you knew anything about the case involving McDonalds and the person who spilled coffee on themselves, you wouldn't find it so frivolous.

As it turns out, I googled the event before I posted, and found this

And guess what I still think...it was her fault

Don't hold hot coffee with your knees.....its that simple, never hold things with your knees. I wouldn't hold a bottle of water with my knees, let alone hot coffee

There is a slight difference in brightness between the bottom screen and the top screen. From what I've read on the inter-tubes, they way the top screen displays color is different from how the bottom screen displays color.

i bought a black ds a few months back and had to exchange it for the same reason (bottom screen was way too dim). i already had a white one and knew the difference, though there, should not have been as great as it was.

My DS Lite is my 3rd one. The first had 3 dead pixels and the second had 5. Nice QC, Nintendo.

I'm glad your large sample accurately shows the level of Nintendo's QC.

Wait. So one dead pixel and Nintendo replaces it? I was under the impression I had to have like 5. If I bought my DS lite when it came out, do you think I could still exchange it, or is it too late?

Actually it does. The 3rd came from a different batch of serial numbers. There were clearly many other disappointed customers. Same thing happened with my Sony TV. This is my 3rd, and I had dead regions on the first two from the same batch.

I haven't, nor does any DS player I know in the UK, had any dead pixels with either DS's. I don't know if its the UK shipment or whatever. Though I did have problems-

Black DS Lite; D-Pad and buttons were dodgy. Really had to push down on them.
White DS Lite; absolutely minute crack developed in the hinge. you really had to look very closely to see it, even the shop people looked at each other before giving me...
    White DS Lite 2; perfect.

I love how Nintendo accept a return for any level of damage. It's the perfect situation for modern devices. Not happy for *any* reason? Replacement. Never felt worried about buying a Nintendo machine 'cuz they know how picky we all are :D

Lol, but it isn't a word. It's an abbreviation. And it doesn't end with 'recognitioned'. ;)

Never seen the film. It sounds like one of those ridiculous teenage films like Road Trip/American Pie/etc....

Yeah, you don't hold hot coffee with your knees, but the coffee was found to be inherently defective, and under product liability laws, and just general tort concepts, she was able to recover for damages.

Yeah, most people don't agree with it, but that's the way the law is. lol

Everything? The plot, characters, humour, soundtrack, direction, styling.

    Continuality seems fine though!
