Can't speak for Pro Tools, but I have been running Logic X, MPC Daw, Ableton and stuff like Isotope Ozone together on a 2011 iMac with 8Gb, so I would expect the base MBP should be able to cope with it.

Much may depend on project sizes and if it was being wired into a full studio I think it would struggle, but I do a lot of hip-hop production from a home studio/workstation and don't have any issues.

Sure those apps will run on any Apple computer. What you do with those apps may bog down without the right specs but that's not what you asked or gave any indication of.
