is there a volume control for Safari (or Firefox)?

With more web pages (annoyingly) playing music and sound, I'd really like it if there was a volume control in the browser itself so I could set that application on mute until I actually want to "hear" the page as well as see it.

Does anyone know if such a feature exists in Safari (or Firefox)?

Detour lets you change individual applications volume output.

On most sites with sound, there is a volume control on the part thats playing. its not a clean fix, but it works.

the current (and final) version doesn't work on Intel Macs (or at least it didn't for me). Thanks for the link, though :)
