My girlfriend is going on a long flight to Hawaii this Thanksgiving and really wants her computer to last. She asked me if there was such thing as a portable power extension that would give her more power. I told her about buying another battery, but she still insists on seeing if there is one. Do you guys know of any?

Outlets are one choice. I'm actually pretty sure that ADC makes a battery pack type device. Let me see if I can find it.

Go to you favorite reseller and search for and auto/air adapter, generally go for $70-80.

yes, there are products like this. i've never used any and can't vouch for them, so you'll want to do your consumer homework, but look for products from N-Charge (or just NCharge?) and Electrovaya. they're generally thin pads containing power supplies that rest under your laptop.

like you thought, i'd think the long term usability would be much better with another battery...
