Is the price your referring to the Buy It Now price that is so low, or is that just what the current bid is?

If its too good to be true, it is always too good to be true on ebay, particularly with apple laptops. I would be very very afraid of that one; there's just no reason for someone to sell one at a loss.

Plenty of shots of the box (opened by the looks of it) but not the laptop.

I also noticed that all the other auctions with that account were for stamps.

I emailed the person who won and told them that I was pretty sure it had been hacked.

I got ahold of the buyer and added the other things I noticed as well as gave her some advice on dealing with this situation. One ive only read about so any advice would be appreciated by her. I just told her to not to pay, to contact ebay and paypal with reasons we came up and if he emails her not to give any personal info and to just ask a lot of questions and to request pics of actual laptop. I think we saved her over $2000.

Another red flag is that its in Austraila, that's not always a bad thing but usually its safer to buy something in the US, especially if you're not in that country.

Also, I noticed that the seller's contact e-mail address in the listing is at googlemail.com. AFAIK, the only place using the googlemail.com domain is the UK where the Gmail trademark is being disputed. One of the Aussies on this board can probably confirm what domain Gmail is currently using there.

Probably not an eBay mistake...more likely their account has been hacked. Be sure they understand this.

I think he means make sure the seller (I presume hh281125 is the seller) knows that his account has been hacked - it looks from his response about a mistake that he's been fobbed off with a story from the dodgy hacker dude.

Wel, I tried but the hacker replied. Ebay has been notified though and they should be relating the information.
