Sigh :( . The beloved Issac Hayes, who provided the voice of Chef on South Park through its 10 seasons has decided to quit. Apparently he was iritated about the mocking of Scientology in the more recent episode where Stan is thought to be the next L. Ron Hubbard (good episode :) ). The creators thought it weird because he never mentioned any disapproval over mocking christians, muslims, or jews at any time before.

Comedy Central hasn't decided whether they are going to let Chef go from the "cast" or replace Hayes with another voice actor. Any ideas?

Let Chef die. Or just use his lines in previous seasons to make new lines.

So he got pissed that they mocked scientology, but not the three real religions? Maybe he's been talking to Tom Cruise lately...

    Prediction:

They kill Chef off in a horribly crass way then spend next 20 minutes of show making fun of Issac Hayes.

    That's what I'd do. :D

I don't think we'll lose Chef, in 1999 Mary Bergman died. She voiced basically all the females in the show-- The show must go on.

lol what? so after 10 years of pretty much crossing every line of decency NOW he's offended?

I would accept "I don't agree with the direction the show is going" or "I'm ready for a new project" but really, to claim your offended now?

Well, if you count Judaism, then you have to count:
    Hinduism
    Buddhism
    Sikhism
    at least...

I find it ironic that Judaism is such a 'major' religion, when its actual number of practicing adherends is so low... I mean, I honestly didn't realize that Sikhism had more adherents than Judaism until finding the above link. And 'primal-indigenous' and 'African Traditional & Diasporic' have over 20x as many adherents as Judaism. Heck, I don't even know what Juche is, yet it has more adherents than Judaism.

Chef hardly appeared in the last couple of seasons' episodes. Issac H. was probably pissed off at getting so few lines and the episode about Scientology was a convenient excuse for him to leave the show and burn his bridges. Chef was a terrific character but the show can go on without him.

Don't see that it makes much difference. Like a previous post said, he was hardly in any of the last few year's episodes. If nobody hadn't ever told me he was gone, I doubt I would've noticed.

If this really is the reason he is quitting, then it is probably for the best. The show's main goal is to offend everyone and anything. If someone involved with the show gets upset about this, even once, then they probably should not be working for/in South Park.

Maybe they'll kill off Chef and bring in his twin brother who looks exactly the same but has a different voice who is named Cook. ;) :p

Matt Stone said in an article that Hayes never had a problem cashing all of his checks while making fun of other religions. What a hypocrite.

Hayes is a scientologist, which is probably why he was upset. But it's still a bit odd, you have to know that if every other religion is up for grabs, yours most likely is too.

Oh well, it's a shame, but the show will go on, I'm sure.
