I have an iPod touch second generation - A1288 model number. I'm having serious problems with it. I had this iPod a while ago back in 08 and I started using the iPhone and somewhat lost touch with this. Haven't turned it on in a year, and last I know it was working fine. I do not remember if it was jailbreaked, but I do know it was in the 3.x.x software range - not 4.x.x. I'm trying to restore it because it won't turn on - it stays in the apple logo for several hours and does nothing till it dies and shuts off. I put it into DFU mode and recovery mode (tried both) - then I did a restore to the latest 2G software by just pushing restore (not shift+restore) - I get error 3194, basically saying it's not eligible for the build. I have the latest iTunes. I then tried using redsn0w as I have Windows and tried jailbreaking it - it uploaded the ramdisk and all but there were errors on the terminal as it was jailbreaking. Basically, it doesn't work and just goes back to the recovery mode after jailbreaking and rebooting (perhaps attempted jailbreak, rather). I also tried using sn0wbreeze to create a custom ISPW with the latest software for iPod touch 2G and shift+restore with no avail, same error. I don't care about a jailbreak at this point, just want the thing to work with some software package. I don't have the SHSHs. I even tried iREB to put it into DFU and restore. It's in recovery mode at the moment not restoring any way.
