I have a iPhone 6 and am running the latest Mac OS. Everytime I sync my iPhone to my Mac iTunes goes to step 5/6 which is importing photos which seems to take a long time regardless if I have anything to sync. It is for this reason I still use my iPod Nano which does not have this problem. Does anyone know how to resolve this? Thanks..

Oh I am sorry I should have been more clearer in my post. I do not use Photos and have it disabled but use iPhoto instead.

Glad you like my site you must be a believer indeed.

It should work the same way with iPhoto, give it a try. Or you can use Image Capture to turn off any automatic importing of photos. And yes, I'm a believer. :)

How can I use Image Capture to turn off the auto import of photos? Thanks for your help.

Let's try it with iPhoto first.... Attach your iPhone to your Mac, iPhoto should open and ask to import the photos that are on your iPhone. Open iPhoto Preferences, click on the General Tab, and then select "no application" from the dialog that says "Connecting Camera Opens". From that time on, you should not be seeing an import take place.

I just checked and that option was already disabled so I am at a loss on this one.
