I saw these in the Apple store, and being a fan of netbooks, and hackintoshing a netbook, I'm leaning towards getting one of these.

    Very sexy.

I figure I'll pick one up from a reseller where I don't have to pay tax and can BTO a bit (which means mac mall for me)

    I figure to go with:

    • 11.6" Base
    • 1.4GHz (for longer battery)
    • 4GB Memory (because it can't be upgraded)
    • 64GB SSD (because it can be upgraded eventually)

yeah its so good that I actually thought about returning my recently purchased mac mini and make my 11.6 my primary notebook considering that I have all my data saved on 2TB drives.

I love my MBA and I don't want to let go of it and I'm selling my ipad.

The base model air is a nice machine..

It does a decent job of light computing tasks such as web surfing, listening to music and chatting..

I've been able to do some light gaming.. (starcraft II and Torchlight) without any trouble.

It is a nice secondary machine.

I'm enjoying the higher screen resolution that the new 'air provides over it's larger cousins... it's very crisp to have 1360x768 resolution on a 11.6" display.

Is the MBA your only machine?

Do it! I've had my 11 for about a week and it even does photoshopping on iphone 4 images without hesitation (my big worry with the base model). You will adore how portable-yet-usable it it. An iPad was just too small for me and I was worried that the 11 would be as well but it's perfect.

    It's my only mac.

I have a custom built windows rig for encoding and gaming..

It does a fine job as a secondary computer. (the MBA, that is)

Bought an 11.6 ultimate and loving it. Don't listen to those people that say the 11.6 is only good for 'light computing.' It can do a lot for the package it comes in, and for most users out there, it will take care of all their needs. It is extremely portable and that is what I love about it.

I really wish people would get off this bandwagon of this computer is only good for light tasks. I know its no mac pro or MBP, but its not designed for that at all. Not only that, but it can handle intensive tasks, just at a slower pace than previous mentioned machines. ANd also, these 'intensive tasks' have run before on crappier and slower machines then the new MBA. I am sure you cant edit and entire HD Walt Disney film comfortably, but you could do something.

I agree. Around my house the 11.6 MBA is my Mac of choice. The iPad is a nice second choice. I'm using it right now to post this waiting for an appointment.
