yeah well vniow i don't think it's working right now...only working on the other computers in the LAN with the local IP maybe i'm doing something wrong...
vniow you also have to be using iTunes 4 for this to work...

How do you get your IP and stuff to your shared music folder?

Ok, lets try this, since I've got dialup, I'll put one of my tinier songs in a playlist and share it, here goes....

    daap://192.168.0.153

Oh, and if it does work, it'll probably only work for the next 15 minutes or so, lousy dynamic IPs..

That's a local IP. It is not availible from outside the network you're on. Your ISP probably has you in a WAN seperate from the internet (i.e. routed), so you're probably out of luck.

    What is your ISP?

I need to get to bed...

Meh, its Prodigy, I usually connect to the internet with my PC, the iBook's connected through an ethernet cable, do I have to manually plug in the iBook to the phone line for this to work?

    Shizzle!

Well it was the smallest song I could think of so yeah.....

    How was the stream?

I'll put a bigger one in there in a sec...

Lets all wank our blues away before I have to log off again!

    Re: Shizzle!

The stream had to rebuffer once during playing. Not good for a 26 sec. song.

It's pretty cool, though. Getting my cable modem tommorow, so über and I (or anyone with broadband for that matter) will have some fun with this.

I wonder if there's some way you can pre-buffer the entire thing before it plays, sort of like the Music Store...

Anyhoo....I put a bigger one in there, about 40 sec long, better quality too, see how that works out...

Crazy broadband users, you don't know how lucky you are....

Does anyone know what port these go in and out of? I would like to keep my firewall on while doing this.

I can see that someone is connected to me in the preferences for sharring but it doesn't say who. That would be a nice feature. Also if it would automatically set up a chat if you chose to.

How did you know to use the prefix daap? Also how did you identify the subnet?

I'm connected to MacBandit, but it's rebuffering every second :(

Stupid Dial-Up... *talks to self* just a few more hours... Adelphia says the modem will be there before 1PM tommorow

I have a cable modem with a 256b/s upstream. I don't know if that is enough to actually stream. I think Apple may have prevented the buffer of the whole song so that you couldn't stream across the internet without a really really fast connection.

i was just checking your tracks.:D
could only get 20 seconds or so of a track to play before it would stop and rebuffer. gave audio hijack a run at the same time. couldn't get it to record anything. a chat feature would be good.

    i'm at 203.217.64.96

Should be enough to stream a basic AAC file.

I have a very fast line at school (T3), I'll have to try it tommorow with someone with decent downstream (i.e. not dialup)

I guess there's a good chance that it is your modem as my cable modem speed is still 4x faster on the upload then the fastest modem connection you could have. That is unless you are using a multiple modem setup which I highly doubt.

I just tried yours and saw the same thing; play a couple seconds, rebuffer, play, rebuffer.

And I'm on cable, too. :p

Unless he's on DSL or Cable. If he is, I'm worried. He should have enough download speed to stream off your 256 up well.

Adelphia says my cable modem is going to be 2000/256. Or maybe it was 3000/128... I'd rather have the former for this exact purpose.

People with broadband: Post your results in connecting to each other.
