I have a 3rd gen ipod, and recently I updated to itunes 5 on my G4. Now whenever I try to update my ipod, I get this message:

"Some of the songs in the iTunes music library were not copied to the iPod 'ipod name' becaue your iPod software is too old. Go to http://www.apple.com/ipod to get the latest iPod software update."

I've installed the latest software update several times and I still get this same message. There are a lot of songs that I really want on my iPod, and no matter how I fiddle with the settings, it won't let me put them on it because of this error. Any ideas?

Have you tried loading new iPod firmware (software)?

http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

I don’t know why Apple tries to hide this so to speak but try downloading the iPod updater and upgrade the software inside your iPod, that’s what iTunes is asking for really, not updating your iTunes software. This is one download for all the iPod's also.

Hope this helps ya out.

Hmm yeah that's what I installed. Several times. I'm not sure what else to do.

Totally strange. Okay, maybe it's a preference thing. Try deleting the iPod preferences (called com.apple.iPod.plist) and if that doesn't work, maybe try deleting the iTunes preferences (called com.apple.iTunes.plist).

Good luck with it. :)
