As most of you probably know, iTunes has a different brushed metal theme than the other brushed metal apps (Safari, iMove, iPhoto...) I thought they would give iTunes the new metal in 4.0, but I just investigated and they didn't. I wonder why?

Probably because the new iTunes is based pretty closely on the old iTunes

If they want to keep 10.1.x compatibility they can't use the 10.2 "Textured Window" API like the other iApps have done recently. Eventually they'll go 10.2-only, and THEN they can get rid of 10.1 legacy code and use the "standard" metal look.

iTunes is a cocoa and carbon app, it uses both APIs, unlike other apps such as safari you can't change the UI to aqua
