iTunes doesn't see Apple TV as a speaker option

Although my MacBook sees my Apple TV as an Airplay option, iTunes can only "see" my Airport Express as an external speaker option. Any ideas how to send direct from iTunes to Apple TV, which is connected to my home theatre as I want to ditch the Airport Express plus connection to my home stereo which is now obsolete? Or do I have to send iTunes to "My Computer" and then Airplay out from the Mac to the Apple TV?

This option seems a bit too clunky to me, so help please in setting up a direct link.
