I'm in the UK and have friends in the US. If one of them bought me an iTunes gift certificate, would I be able to use it, or will iTunes stop me because it knows where I live (I get the country warning when I log in)?

I was wondering about the same thing as a resident of Japan.

After checking out service policies of ITMS, I've come to a conclusion that Apple probably blocks us out by the physical location of where we are accessing from. You might be able to fake it by using a proxy server though.

I'm curious if any American users has succeeded puchasing music from overseas location? If that works, gift certificate might work as well.

Just can't wait till the launch of Japanese ITMS!!!!!!!!

I live in the UK, and a friend on MR sent me a $10 test this from the States, I had to fill in a fictitious address and all that, but I got it to work. I don't have a credit card, and there is an option to not add one, so the rest of the info is easy to make up.

I no longer get the 'Not available in your area' message when I go on the store either. :)
