I go to download an app, and it prompts for the password. I put it in, and it just loops back with the "sign in to the iTunes store" dialogue box. I've tried resetting the cache and warnings, but it still does it. I can sign out and back in to download, but it will do it again after a while. Anyone else seeing this?
Hmm. Interesting. Yes, quitting resolves it for the mean time, but eventually it happens again. It's a slightly different dialogue box than the one that just asks for password - it's actually asking to sign in to the iTunes store (and has the box asking about using your AOL login).
solution Access the "go menu: HOLD down the option key to left of space bar. When U do this Library suddenly appears Go into prefs where U see a ton of com.apple etc Find this one com.apple.appstore.plist right click and send it to the TRASH restart the Mac and then try it.
Not sure if the resetting of the preference plist for the App Store would do it or not, but I contacted iTunes support, and they suggested resetting password. So far it seems ok. We'll see. Edit: nope still happening.
I am having the same issue. It's quite irritating. Closing and restarting iTunes works as a short term fix but it inevitably happens again.
Do you use a cookie manager or block cookies in Safari? Evidently, iTunes stores an authorization cookie in Safari (for some inexplicable reason.) http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3388?viewlocale=en_US
Add me to the list of those seeing the issue. It seems the app may download anyway but it is a darn annoying bug. I tried the reset password, it worked for a little while and then failed again.
SOLVED: itunes keeps logging out Go to: Safari > Extensions > delete all extensions > turn off extensions > clear cache. Quit Safari Restart itunes
