I hope apple says screw you to these guys. If they do this it will be back to limewire for many many people...

i think the music industry will raise it and shut down more of the p2p networks.... for us to be screwed

No p2p will always be a step ahead. Just look at the sony DRM all you had to do was hold shift when you put the cd in. I think they are going to be screwing in the end.

How does one "shut down" a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol? If anything, p2p networks will evolve to be more robust and resistant to attack.

Answer: you can't. The cat has been let out of the bag, and a long time ago. Hence the interest in "dark networks".
It is a truism that illegal operations will always be one step ahead of legal ones.
In this issue, for my 2p, the record industry has handled the whole thing so badly that they deserve a good kicking. Too insular, too backward looking.
Who can ever support an industry where both the producer and consumer are screwed?
Artists deserve to be fairly paid, which, in general, they are not, and consumers deserve a fair deal, which in general they don't get.
70%+ overheads for the record companies? and the artist gets 6%? Give me a break.
