hey guys, i know this isnt really a rumor, but does anyone know of any shortcuts that i can use for itunes 2.0. Individually setting the genre for the equalizer is a royal pain in the ass considering i have about 800 songs. thanks

    don't know...

I don't bother with the genre...

I know in other mp3 apps there are plugins to convert a list of songs to contain certain id3 tag information...

not sure if iTunes supports this in any form.

    sorry wasn't more help. :(

    a possible fix...

Try copying iTunes to the external hard drive. Then, make an alias of that iTunes and copy the alias onto your old hard drive. This should work.

    How to fix missing music

Simply trash the I Tunes database in the fodler...

Then tell I tunes to add music to the library. Select the source drive and let I tunes search. All of the ID tags will be intact and the music will show up in your list.

I have done the same thing and if you use richvideo's technique, you will be fine.

I think your mp3's will have the information stored within themselves. When u change their information within iTunes, it carries over. It works that way for me whenever I alter the information with my iTunes in OS 9 & bring it into iTunes in OS X. Either way should work for u...

    ok here goes...

This is what I would do to try and fix the problem:

    1) copy all of my mp3's and the entire iTunes application, folders & data files onto my new hard drive

    2) check to make sure iTunes works properly on the new hard drive

    3) make an alias of the iTunes from my new hard drive and place it onto my main drive

    4) check it out and see if iTunes runs properly from the alias

    5) if all works well, trash the files from my main drive, as now I have it all on my new hard drive

Now theoretically this should work out fine. If u copy everything from iTunes, then your date files containing your playlist information will be there as well, hence no need to recreate playlists...

I found early on that if you keep all of your mp3s in the same folder (with sub-folders for artists, albums, etc.) then an operation like that would only require grabbing that main folder and dropping it on the iTunes window to import all of them.
I've got several thousand mp3s and haven't had any major problems when moving them onto new drives.

    Selecting multiple songs

Can anyone tell me how to select multiple songs so as to add them to playlists?
I use the shift key, but this only lets me select multiple songs that are on top of one another. I want to be able to jump around my library.

in response to juniormaj all of my mp3s are in one folder and for some reason after i moved the folder to my new drive itunes is only recognizing about half of the songs. i moved itunes along with the folder onto the new drive, tried to alias it onto my old drive like eyelikeart recommended, and tried throwing out the playlist like richvideo recommended, none worked. must be a bug in my laptop im not really surprised this thing gets alot of problems. all probobly just have to re import all of my songs and do my playlists, and EQ settings over. thanks for the help anyway guys...

    To select multiple songs

Push the apple key while selecting stuff!

    That should work!
