Read on cnn.com that James Brown was hospitalized with severe pneumonia.. and just had a bad feeling that he would pass away. Wish I was proved wrong. :(

There will never be another James Brown.

Seeing James Brown perform live was on my list of things to do before I died. Looks like he beat me to it. His energy, his sound, his music, his lyrics, and even his acting (Rev. Cleophus James in the Blues Brothers) will never be duplicated. He was a legend and he will be missed by millions.

The superstar has become a legend. There will always be a piece of James Brown in my music library.

I predict that many news reports about this story will end with something like : "Today, those fans do not feel good."

To think he was playing a concert here only last summer in great shape. What a shame. :(

    wow. what a legacy

i knew about him since i was a kid in the 70s and that he had hits in the 60s, but i was not aware he had a hit way back in 1956 or that he was as old as he was

i can't think of anyone in rock and roll who played major shows so late in their lives and still sold out shows and was still hip with the young crowd

there may never be anyone, ever, who has had such a long, continuous career in the rock and roll music business

He did some **** stuff in his life, but his musical legend status surpasses all. God rest JB.

My dad came back from visiting my grandparents and he came in quite upset. He's a huge funk/soul lover and he was always a huge fan of the guy. Still though, to die on Christmas day is both incredible and terrible at the same time. The date sticks to mind but I feel for his family :(

Well James, take it higher! The man influenced an entire genre, and at least we've still got that.

Wow, I hate to hear about such an influential musician disappearing. His influence on popular music is hard to measure, but c'mon, we all know he was one of the most influential.

No, THIS is what James Brown is all about!

It really doesn't get much f.u.n.k.i.e.r than that! Boy!

He gave his life for Father Christmas

    :D

In the future I'm going to play some James Brown instead of X-mass music
