Just wanted to know if everyone thinks I got a good deal. A doctor moving out of town sold me the following for $300 USD. What do you think? Was this a good buy? I kinda jumped on it because it wasn't a lot of money. The system came in all original boxes. The plastic tape is still on the front of the system.

    Thanks,
    -Dave

What was the plastic tape? You mean it wasn't even used?

Not a bad price, but what do you plan on doing with it?

Thats a pretty good deal. If I were you, though, I would up the RAM and HD space. Maybe in the future you can up the processor as well.

Good buy, esp. since 15 inch LCDs go for like 200 anyway.

Nice, especially as you got a display too! That should be a nice server box of some kind or other, or just a cool piece of kit to pose with! :)

That would cost what he paid for it!
Not everything has to run on OS X you know... :p

Well, I think she used it when she was in medical school but said she hadn't taken it out of the box in a couple years. I plugged it all in and fired up no problem. I think I'm going to try to add some ram and hard drive I have lyin around and install OSX as it has 9 on it now. I am excited. I rarely find a good deal like this. :)

heck for $300 with the display I'd say that's a hell of a deal. Definatly put some upgrades into it(HD, processor, ram) but even then your probably under 1000

The sawtooth in my specs runs OSX 10.3.9 flawlessly but expose is kinda flakey cuz of the Rage Pro card. By the way I have 440mb Ram not 568, I am to lazy to change my signature :D .

That will run Tiger just fine. If my G3 iBook can do it, so can that G4 Powermac.

That is a great buy. Just get a new HDD and some more RAM and you are set.

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone. :) I pulled some spare 3 256 dimms from my linux box and a 40gig hd from my solaris box and installed Tiger last night. It runs great except the video card needs an upgrade. Ahh well, good enough for now. :)

DVI. It's the original studio display from 1998 I think.
