Just so y'all know, a member of our forum ;) , Keira Knightly will soon be starring in a remake of Pride and Prejudice - I saw the preview yesterday and it looks great.

I expected this story to come from edesignuk!

Either way, I'm sure that it will be a visually stunning film... ;)

The original is a bit of a classic - and really long. Its a little bit much for me, but my wife loves it. If you've seen that NetFlix commercial with the English people in period dress in the living room when a house wife comes home - and the couple in a row boat in the pool....it wouldn't surprise me if they were thinking about Pride and Prejudice when they made it.

And this is quite old news....

Meh, might have to watch it with the sound off. Can't stand period dramas

It's supposed to be one of the ultimate chick-books, but I couldn't get past the second chapter... although that was a few years ago, maybe I'd be more tolerant now. Hmm, maybe I should check the book out from the local library.

Pride and Prejudice is worth sticking with; there are some cogent statements about men and women in there that are still relevant! It wasn't one of my favourites until I was in my mid-twenties; before that I just couldn't get into it.

On the other hand, I've also tried to read some of the other classic Austen books that I gave up on my teens recently and still can't get past the second chapter of Emma or Sense & Sensibility. Those two just leave me cold.

I could never get into the original. There was an updated version a few years ago that was amusing. Not great, but worth seeing once. It had lots of Apple use. Trailer

Hm, yes, well, I'm almost 21, so I guess it's about time I give that darned book another chance. ;)

Exactly, my peers kept babbling on and on about how awesome Emma, S & S, and P & P all were-- so I thought I'd read them, nuh uh, never got past the first chapter or so. Good to know that I'm not the only woman who isn't enthralled.

Horse face and an annoying voice, I can't see this attraction to Ms. Knightly.

Each to their own Lacero, she's extremely cute in the flesh, can't say I'm particularly enamored of her work however.

The only thing I've ever experienced that remotely resembles her work was watching Bride and Prejudice. It was a good English-language Bollywood film.

I'd rather go re-read Tolstoy's War and Peace than fight the deathly boredom and feelings of literary suicide that Pride and Prejudice produced in me. This from someone who loves history, literature and even many of Jane Austen's contemporary writers from the 1800's...Kiera Knightley would make a film version more palatable to be sure but still a major snoozefest... :D

If the movie producers added explosions, lots of T&A and some hip-hop music to the film, it might make it more palatable.

A little brash, but I think that she is just too thin. If she were to get a little meat on her bones...she would be hot!

ms. knightly isn't the best actress in my opinion however...
