Kevin Mitnick's website was recently hacked. Not once, but twice. Evidently that PowerBook hasn't converted him, because the hacked server was running Microsoft server software.

    Read about it here.

    too funny.

    Hacker or Cracker

Is the term Cracker just there for hackers to rationalise their behavior?

    Re: Hacker or Cracker

a cracker is usually related to software and reverse engineering. a hacker is usually related to network expertise. at least that's how I believe the terms are more often used..... it is perhaps more useful to reserve the term hacker for those who are talented with computers and the term criminal for those who use their abilities for illegal means. thought it depends upon how much the public wishes to associate the negative connotations of the word criminal with the word hacker... it has been my experience that most in the computing community wish to disassociate the two as much as possible for the sake of clearity
