Here's a ball buster. We just spent about a $1,000 to migrate our work stations to OSX.3. We currently run OS 9 on the main work station that is connected to a PlateStream platesetter that uses Xitron's Harlequin RIP (I believe the version is 5.x) After spending the money we found out from PlateStream that there are problems with Adobe's CS going ctp to Harlequin RIP, in that it wants to name every plate Cyan and won't recognize any other naming protocols (didn't matter what product, it was the RIP in question). This would play havoc on our filing system, and render finding anything to re-plate or archive useless. I know there aren't many out there who may have this issue, but I would really like to hear from anyone who knows what I'm talking about, and offer solution. upgrading to the latest version RIP (so PlateStream tells ue) would cost about $5,000 and my boss is just livid that that's the case,

    help!!

My advice: Tell your boss to buy the next version of HQ Rip, it handles PostScript Level 3 better anyways, which you would be more tempted to exploit with all the new features of CS!

This is the product we would have to purchase.

It costs $5,000, he won't spend the money, rather he'll just stay in the stone-age using OS9 and RIP v5.0 Postscript level 2 and when he finally realizes his company is being stepped on and ground up (when we all lose our jobs) he just might figure out that it was better to part with the bucks.
You'd have to know my boss.
