    Current Apple Store Locations:

Fashion Show Mall - Last time they let no one step foot on the premises until roughly 7 a.m. This might be the same situation, so be prepared.

Same situation as last year, first ten people will wait next to the Apple store, while others will be directed into a section in the middle of the mall, near the fashion show stage.

Town Square Center - Spoke to a Apple Rep on the phone recently, said the center never closes and will be able to wait outside, A line might be formed around the center to avoid congestion on the street and sidewalk
If extreme heat is present at the town square location, fan misters and water will be provided most likely.

    AT&T Store Locations:

( I will be at the Town Square location probably 20 hours in advance, and will be twittering and blogging constantly.)

    Where are you guys going?

I was at Fashion Show last year and will probably be again this year. I don't know about waiting 20 hours in line, but the benefits to FS is that since its inside, you can show up around 9 or 10 and probably still get a good spot in line. I definitely cant stand to sit outside in the hot weather.

The issue about having to activate the phones at the time of purchase will suck, and I think lead to more people in line earlier. I figure it'll take three times as long to move people through line. Last year I showed up around 10:45 and got my phone at 6:45. This year it would take 2 hours or so to get the phone given the same position in line. Of course, if Apple lets purchasers who use their CC to activate at home, it'll work better, but for now, I'm planing on having to wait in line much later than 6P to get the phone.

Dare to say I'm even tempted to go and buy it on Sunday instead of Friday.

I was at the front in the Fashion Show last year for the iPhone, and I loved it, I had a great time with my buddies and stuff. The only thing that killed me, was that I was sooo damn cramped. and all we could do is either stand up or sit on the floor, no chairs which was a major buzz kill.

I showed up at 3 in the morning, was the first one there, and couldn't even be placed on a list, all i was told was to leave the premises until the mall opened...so BS!

I showed up to the Fashion Show at around 10:30 last year not even wanting to get the iPhone but my mom saw the line and was like lets wait just for the hell of it and we were like number 90-ish in line and it wasnt bad at all, a few friends showed up and we all hung out in the nice ac. Im probably going to show up earlier this year and get an even better spot:D

Yea the no chairs rule blew hard. I even had a camping chair in the back of my car that I had brought in case they changed the rule, but no dice. Though I can understand why, there isn't a whole lot of room at the FSM to take the line - when I was there for the Leopard launch I was in that hallway and it winded around. Eventually the line will have to go outside at some point. They cant keep it winding around the mall or it will just get in the way.

My biggest thing is getting there early enough so that I get a spot in line in front of the Apple store so I can bring my MacBook and use their free WiFi. Though at least this time I'll have the iPhone to keep me company too. And it wont be long before I'm sick of the hourly fashion shows ;).

I had brought a folded up beach blanket to sit on which was better than the hard floor. This year I'll bring some inflatable cushion or something.

Also, which version are you going to get? I'm in for the 16GB Black one.

I will be at the Town Square this time around, i wanna try for a different experience. If you wanna go, i'll get you a spot in front with no questions asked.

I was thinking in the beignning of going for the 16gb white...but the white looks kind of girlish now...

I didn't even know they were going to open one in the forum shops. Are they going to close the FSM one? According to http://www.ifoapplestore.com/, the Forum Shops one will open sometime in 2009.

Though I wonder if they're going to close the Fashion Show Mall location. It would seem odd to have two Apple stores 3/4 of a mile apart from each other, is it really necessary? Plus, as a local, getting in and out of Fashion Show is ok (if you take Sahara to Industrial and go down that to the mall), but getting in and out of Caesars is horrible. I haven't been there in years.

ifoapplestore store also notes that there could be an additional Apple store in CityCenter. That would be three Apple stores within a mile and a half, and four locations in four miles.

These areas get tremendous foot traffic and would definitely appeal to Apple since they have a high "gravitational field" - e.g. you walk by and want to walk inside. But it seems like a very high concentration to have that many Apple stores in such close proximity. Of course you also have something like 65,000 hotels rooms in three miles so its a very unique situation too.

I was hoping the next site would be off the strip, probably in the Summerlin shopping plaza south of the Red Rock Hotel/Casino.

Whats the time frame for the summerlin store? 2010? Could Apple build more stores in NYC or LA in that time frame?

Las Vegas can support that many stores though, recent studies show that LV is pretty tech savvy - even bettering Silicon Valley and Austin, TX. Plus the visitor volume, its looking good. Sadly, with expensive gas and poor economy, visitor volumes are on the way down.

I believe everything should be completed by 2010

Summerlin Centre is projected to be completed or at least opened by mid 09'

Forum, i believe the concept is already be designed and are entering construction within the next 3 months, so probably by x-mas of 08

City Center - end of 09'

I'll decide where I'm going after they announce what time it will be available.

Yea, there are rumors the phone might go on sale at 10A when stores open (and 12:00A at NYC 5th Ave), as opposed to making us stand in line until 6PM.

To beat the wait, wouldn't it be better to just go to an ATT store??

Not really - IIRC, last year the Apple stores had a disproportionally larger amount of phones to sell than AT&T stores, even factoring the # stores. And Apple stores were also restocked quicker. And there were still lines of 100+ people at AT&T stores.

The allocations could be different this year since AT&T is subsidizing them instead of paying full price, we'll see... we still have three and a half weeks to go, so there is plenty of time for announcements and info to come out.

I'm not sure where to go for this launch. I was in the middle section at the FSM for the Leopard launch and it was a lot of fun. I like Town Square a lot better than the FSM but I don't know how long I can stand the sun mid July. At the same time, since the Town Square line will be waiting outside I don't see why I can't bring a chair this time. I may just deal with the heat so I can sit down and be able to use my laptop tethered to my blackjack. I'll share out my 3G connection over internet connection sharing with anyone willing to bring a power generator, HA.

Because Apple fanboys :apple::cool: like to go to the roots to get their products, not some third party vendor store. Plus its so much exciting to go to the apple store, you get all the employees clapping, news cameras and press all around you and etc.

It's just a more welcoming experience.

Well add me to the list for the Town Square location. I took the day off work for this, so I shall be there nice and early. :D

Maybe if we can get a few of us together in line there, we will be able to let each other head to the restroom without fear of losing our spot.

What time was everyone thinking of getting there?

I showed up at 3 A.M. at the fashion show location without knowing that they would kick me off the premises until 7...so that sucked a lot! if the Town Square lets us stay as long as we want, then i'll be there at 3 A.M. again :)

Meh, when I was at FSM I just told the guy next to me I had to go take a leak and they were cool about it, I just left my water bottle and towel that I sat on and took my backpack (since it had my laptop). Everyone was pretty cool, except for the end where some guy who we hadn't seen all day strolled up to the line and said that his friend had saved his spot all day. A few people got pissed since he showed up at 545 and basically took up another place in line and didn't have to wait.
