I bought a Macbook Air 13 liked it, but returned it because.... well I think I will wait on either an IPS display and or 1080p - retina. My wifes Asus zenbook prime 1080p IPS display is amazing, so this prompted the return of the air and the wait for the mysterious updates. I may go with the 13 rMBP, but there is an update to haswell lingering? In the meantime I upgraded my ram in my late 2008 MBP to 8 gig and installed a 240 Kingston SSD for 230 total and WOW!!!! what a huge difference. I have new gained respext for my old c2d friend.

that's pretty awesome, I have an aging 2.2 15" mbp it's the pre-unibody one, and I did upgrade the ram up to 4gb which is supposed to be it's max, and the hdd to a 500gb drive, I still like that it runs well, I wonder how well it would do on an SSD drive though ;)

I kind of need 500gb of storage though.. :-/

Yes, the "old" C2D is very capable with an SSD, my 2010 Air is still a great machine.

I recently also upgraded my old 2008 uMB from 4 to 8GB of RAM. That alone does wonders! I'm saving up for an SSD for that one later on.

Also upgraded my 2011 MBP 13" from 8GB to 16GB + 256GB Crucial M4 SSD. This thing screams! 8 seconds from power button press to login screen!

I use the same machine, and I totally agree. However, with Haswell, Apple is finally getting closer to convincing me to buy a new one. :)
