I have read on Sofpedia's website that installing the latest Apple updates such as Security update and QuickTime update can cause your computer to 'lock up' upon startup. It says a quick problem to solve this is to go into safe mode and remove all startup items from library>startup items. but there are some things in there that i don't have a clue what they are and if i should delete them. they are: OpenBase, RadmindClient, Veoh and PhoneValet. Should I delete these or not or will the whole update be alright???

Are you saying you installed the update and your computer has Frozen? Or are you afraid of that happening?
I haven't had any problems ever with a Security update, and don't know why you are paranoid about it. Go ahead and update, if there are problems remove the startup items. If the startup items are things you don't know then remove them and put them back once things are good again.

Typically if something needs to be on at startup it'll replace itself if it is removed.
