Description:: MTV Networks has been surprised to discover that low-profile stand-up specials from its Comedy Central channel are outperforming such better-known franchises as MTV's "Laguna Beach" and Nickelodeon's "SpongeBob SquarePants" since striking a deal last week to bring 14 different MTVN series to iTunes' growing roster of TV downloads for video iPods.

Indeed. Sometime in the '90s, didn't they change it to mean 'Miserable TeleVision'?

    Word.

And then, MTV2 was supposed to be 24/7 (or as Steve says "twenty four by seven!") music.
It was how long before they started to show non-music shows? A year or two?

MTV and MTV2 get a boo. I haven't watched either for years.
