launchpad icon disappeared

I have had the launchpad icon disappear from the dock. everything works ok I think but I have no idea how to reinstall the icon back on the dock. I have looked everywhere for it and have not found it so far. I think this happened when I uninstalled a HP printer and I was installing a new one. I was under the understanding that you couldn't just erase this icon like the things on the left side of the dock. New to iMac.

Open Finder and go to the applications folder. It should be there then drag it back to the dock.

Thanks Peace . I guess I just overlooked it because I went through the application folder several times and don't know why I couldn't see it but it was there. I did get it back on the dock
