just ordered my first apple!! a mac book pro that cost way too much , but it so pretty its worth it. anyway, i generally work on databases in sql server, and i can do a bit of .NET development, but if you notice its all microsoft technologies. I want to give dev on the apple a go, be it in objective c or just apple script. i believe apple script has access to all API's now so would that be a good route to begin? what books and software can you recommend for an absolute beginner to apple programming?

for objective-c (and cocoa, you'll need that too) get both Programming in Objective-C (by Stephan Kochan) and Cocoa programming for mac os x (by Aaron Hillegass). They are both highly recomended by the programmers at macrumors. BTW: read the objective-c book first;)

If you're interested in Obj-C/Cocoa - I've been reading this book and so far, it's excellent.
