Don't laugh. That was one of the first questions I saw posted about the new iMac when it was introduced. :D

I'm still trying to figure out how to lift my gumdrop-shaped G3 iMac. They didn't give me any instructions. ;)

I totally second that...Oh my gosh, I can't stop laughing. That should be on the Windows site.

The real question is how the heck you are supposed to carry the eMac. That thing is the most unwieldily clunky, impossible to move desktop computer ever. It's big and heavy, and all those smooth curves make it slick. Moving and rearranging a lab of those things is the biggest PITA ever!

It sounds silly to post a "how to lift" article, but I bet it's to prevent someone from lifting it by the aluminum foot; it's a reasonable enough thing to try, given that the previous iMac was designed to use the arm as a handle.

I've heard that one before, it's pretty good. I was always partial to this one though (can't figure out if there is a real database to look it up in or not, but this is the text I've always seen):

From Sun Microsystems bug report (#4102680):
"Workaround: don't pound on the mouse like a wild monkey."

This has to have been a relic from DEC!

Their Datatrieve prouct (still made, I don't know if it's been sanitized since) demonstrated an an obsession with wombats.

Old DEC machines had a text editor called TECO, and one of the commands used to invoke it was called MAKE. In response to a "make love" command, it would reply "Not war?"

Google is, as ever, up to the task: The Bug (not from an official sun website, but probably accurate)
