iPod Line Out misbehaving on iPod dock...

I have a 60GB Video and a dock, and for some reason, the Line Out is not working correctly all of a sudden. When docked, you can actually control the volume via the scroll wheel. Normally, it would be a line level signal unaffected by the iPod's volume controls. What gives?
