Can the Mods just close this thread before the army of angry designers read it and begin their tirade of abuse towards this misinformed individual......

    PLEASE!

OP: Try this link… an Open Source Illustrator alternative which might help you.

    Why?
    The OP might learn something…

I agree... but it does get my back up to see the design community come down hard on misinformed people...... perhaps the mods should allow 10 post of abuse then close it lol

Ok, now that that is out of my system, you need to check out Gimp. It is free and works almost as well as Photoshop.

Here are some tutorials and here is an awesome forum to discuss ideas and techniques about gimp.

    Good luck!

I know you said free but...

if you are willing to spend a little money, there is a pretty decent program called Pixelmator. They have a free trial on their website so you can try it out. If you like it it is priced at $60 or so.

There is also the aviary products. They are all free and online only. You work on a website and do all the edits on the web from any computer, and when you are done you can download the results. There are also tons of tutorials for aviary

just trying to give out some options.
