    Hi,

I have an image that must be converted into a gif (all my files require same extension and all the others are gifs). When I look at it in PS and export it as a PNG24, it looks great. But when I want to convert it into a GIF, there is a white border all around it (background is transparent).

This is very ugly and I dont know how to fix it. My icon has less than 256 color and need transparency, so it should fit into a GIF without any problem.

Anyone can help me on this, this has to be a stupid question... thx

The PNG file has alpha-transparency, which basically means that some pixels are transparent. When you save it as a GIF, the transparent icons turn white, hence the fugly white border around it.

Gifs support transparency too. Just make sure to turn the matte off in the preferences, or set it to a color that matches something. Downfall is... GIF only supports 256 colors... PNG supports alot more.

just change the extension of the PNG file to GIF... I do it all the time and it works perfectly.
