My parents told me yesterday they wanted to get my daughter a laptop for Christmas. They had planned to get a cheapie Dell, but I said I'd pay the difference to get an iBook. Anyways, I know I had seen the 12" 1.2GHz for $719 or something close on the Apple website... And of course now they aren't there.

Anyone have any other ideas on where I can get these?

I understand the urgency with the holidays right around the corner, but I'd just keep a close eye on the apple store (maybe even call apple and/or the local apple store). I'm sure you can find them elsewhere, but I don't think anyone else will give you the full 1 year Apple warranty with the opportunity to purchase applecare. This is very important to me, especially for a refurb.

I've got a mint two and a half month old 1.33ghz 12" iBook in the box with all original packaging and cables, booklets etc in original plastic PLUS I will throw in a new, in sealed box iBook handle by Quickertek for 855 shipped to lower 48. Only today. It is in the mint box. You don't buy it, they are nice gifts for me. Nope, no haggling, or trades, already taking a loss.

Why would anyone purchase a computer from someone and then pay that person to fix what is wrong with it? I'd never buy a used car and then pay extra for the seller to fix the fuel tank.

im "that guy" and i said that i would get that person in contact with the seller of the drive (who is on macrumors) and so you are getting a 1000.00 computer for 850 bucks and spend 40 bucks for a new drive that you can put in yourself...pretty good deal. Plus i need to sell it immediately to pay some tuition

I think an iBook would be better if it's a teenager or younger child. Easier on things bashing into it, etc.

    How old is she?
