My iPod icon on the desktop has disappeared and been replaced by the generic disk image icon for some strange reason. How the heck do I get my old icon back?

Nope, didn't work. This weird... For some reason it was just replaced with the generic dmg icon.

Which one is it? I can post a zipped file with a folder with the icon in there.
Then you can do get info on the folder, click on the icon, copy it and the get info on the ipod click on the icon and paste it on.
