I managed to screw something up on my G5, 10.4.6......Mail no longer will open. I was trying to fix spell check and decided to try Pacifist--to reinstall an older version of mail off of a G5 install disc--with the idea I could update to the lastest version via software update. Basically, I was trying to burn down the barn to get rid of the rats. I did. I thought I "updated" the mail package with Pacifist, but the result was that Mail acts like it is opening (icon flashes briefly) and then nothing. Please help. Can you reinstall just Mail 2.0?

I don't think you can just install Mail. If you find out you can, I'd be interested to know. Have you tried simply deleting the mail preference file?

Umm... By older version do you mean a pre-Tiger release of Mail? If so, get your hands on a Tiger disk and try Pacifist again to put Mail 2.0 back on. It should work properly. :)
