M-Audio Oxygen (8/49 etc)

I am interested in Starting Music Creation.. and never ventured into this before. I would like to start getting more serious with garage band, and then ultimatly move to something else...

I dont have anything now except a Mac, Mac keyboard and Mighty mouse.

Can I use this?

The M-Audio Oxygen? Would this be suitable to begin working with music? and making my own tracks/ mixes?

Short answer, yup.

I have an Oxygen-8, its awesome.

Along with GarageBand, it's a good start, the next thing to consider would be an audio interface and microphone, so you can record voice and acoustic instruments. There are some MIDI keyboards with audio interfaces built in, although they go for more money than the Oxygen. A separate audio inteface may be simpler.

The M-Audio Oxygen series says it comes with Ableton Live Lite 5. Is this Universal Binary? I tried to seach it but couldnt verify...

One think is I DO NOT want to use any software through rosetta if possible.
