    Hi people!
I just got myself today the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 for my PowerMac G4 (Quicksilver, 933 MHz). I am running Tiger.2 and installed the latest (beta) drivers from M-Audio. There is apparently only one known bug affecting some games, but thats not my problem.

The thing is, the card works great, sound output is wonderful, the surround effects work as well, but I connected my mic to it, and even if I turn it up to the maximum level, it stays (on the software gain monitor) at around -12 dB when talking normally (at MAX GAIN, yes!) which is way too low.

And when I am trying any small app to record the mic, like "Audio In", the recorded audio is even almost inaudible.

Is this related with the frequency used with the card? The Revo5.1 app is set up correctly, just as the OS X apps audio/midi-configuration and the "sound" tab in the system preferences. Everything seems to work... :(

    Any ideas?

Edit: Looks like my avatar really needs a redesign, its a bit outdated now :p

Sorry I can't help you.... but could you clear something up for me?

Does VLC support Dolby 5.1 output with that card? I have the Logitech Z-680 Dolby 5.1 speaker set attached via Optical Audio to my G5, but only DVD Player.app can use the Dolby 5.1 surround. UT 2004 nor Doom3, nor apps like VLC support the "digital output" for 5.1 surround, which is pretty annoying.

If this card does support it, I might consider bying one...... and maybe I can help you too! ;)

BTW... you 'tar could use some nano :p

Only DVD Player can output 5.1 on the G5??? OMG!
Well, this audio card here is recognized pretty well in the system everywhere. Just watch my screenshot. I dont have a 5.1 device to test the output right now, but it seems to work on the normal analogue output without problems.

I just wish I could record some talking here with the mic as well... but its WAY too low... :(

    Danke!

It looks like that card will work, as the decoding of the 5.1 surround happens "on the card", and not on the speaker set-amplifyer, as is my case. The apps understand (via OpenAL orso) that the card will decode the sound. Gr8!

This looks akin my PC with the SB Audigy 2 card. I assume you could plug-in 3 mini jack cables to connect to your (which you will buy in th efuture, I'm sure :D ) 5.1 speaker set. That word "Analog" got my hopes up. :)

    Tnx again.
I hope someone else can help you with your problem.

Yes, apparently the card decodes it by itself. The OS just makes the card accessible to all apps. And yes, the card has line in, mic in, headphones, 5.1 analog out, and a digital 5.1 out connector. All mini-jacks except the digital one. Take a look at the M-Audio website.

And now... can anyone help me increase the microphone volume on that card? Its ridiculous currently! :(

I could really use some help, folks!
Is it the driver? The volume of my mic recordings is terrible! I would have to yell all the time in order to have a proper volume... :(

I have read SO MANY recommendations for this card here in the forum, and now that I have this problem noone of those who have it can help..? :(

Is my card defective? Should I return it?

Est. shipping date: 5 days.... (AppleStore NL)

But once I've got it, I might be able to help you out.

    Tnx for giving the info!

    EDIT:
BTW, have you seen xlr8yourmac's feedback page on this card? More people seem to have the same problem...
