I wonder if Apple could hire some one to make a semi-professional looking ad using a Mac and one of their video editing packages and then ad at the end, "Made on a Mac. With iMovie."

They could do it with an iBook and iMovie, or a TiBook and Final Cut Pro, and an affordable to a normal human video camera.

I bet it would turn people's heads to see a good-looking commercial produced on a consumer computer setup.

Any thoughts?

That is simple to do

Many videos are made in Final Cut Pro these days. To do a tv comertial in iMovie is not complicated and it doesn't mean the quality would be less because of that, everything depends of what are you going to edit and the out put format. Of course anything a bit complicated would be done in After Effects but now days most tv comertials are based in camera shots (photography) and a good story board.

Canon did a similar thing to this...

They created for their lowend digital video camera with their mid-high end consumer digital video camera.
