this may not be new but just found something i thought id share.

i have a .mac account but am not renewing it. looking at some files to get off .mac before it expires, i thought hey i wonder if the backup disk image will install if my .mac name is not in the system prefs.

read the readme and it said you must have .mac to use the full features (no suprise), if your .mac account is trial youll only be able to back up 100 mb (again, no shock) but then it said
"If you do not have a .Mac membership at all, you can use Backup 3 but you will also have a 100 MB per backup limit and you can't back up to iDisk."
shock!

not the best thing in the world i guess but usefull for backing up mail, addresses, icals, etc . . .

hope that helps someone

i read on the web log tuaw.com that there is actually a similar service offered by some company that gives 1gb? that is very similar to idisk. Where you get free space to backup some stuff. Of course tehre is no syncing, but still free space.

Anyone know what im talking about and more importantly where?
